We visited about 13 month ago and found an unforgetable place. Nature and animals are breathtaking. A place to return as soon as possible.

Best time to be there is between December to mid March. You'll see nature as God created it. Yes, it's hot there and there are mosquitos to drive you mad if you don't carry sun blocker and repellent with you; be sure to have them both enough for the time you want to be there. There you can climb mountains, do some forest trails, some snorkeling. Watch river stingrays, dolphins, otters, snakes and plenty of other mammals and birds. Be sure to go with a local guide. Beautiful place, worth visiting for nature lovers.

I went during the winter when everything was flooded. It was the most beautiful place I've ever seen. The people who work in the park are very knowledgeable and dedicated to taking care of and learning more about the area. Because of the lack of people there, it's a great location to immerse oneself in nature. I would not recommend going by yourself, definitely go with a guide who is familiar with the area.

El Tuparro National Natural Park is the area core of the El Tuparro Biosphere Reserve declared by the UNESCO in 1982 and it is the only protected area that conserves a sample of the Colombian highland ecosystems. The Park hosts a large biodiversity of fauna and flora immersed in the beautiful landscapes of the Guyana Shield that includes dry and flooded savannas, gallery forest, overflow and dry land forests, rocky outcrops and the imposing rapids of the Orinoco river. The Park is a territory of cultural importance for its indigenous communities of the Curripaco, Sikuani, Mapayerri and Piaroa ethnic groups, among others. We Reizen in Colombia from The Netherlands organize 5 days expedicion in this National Park.
