Tras la Perla is an initiative dedicated to the the sustainable development of the city of Santa Marta, Colombia and the surrounding region. Led by Grammy Award Winning Colombian Artist Carlos Vives, who is from Santa Marta, the initiative creates partnerships with local and federal government officials, local and international private sector, and other interested stakeholders to advance sustainable development of the region. Since 2015, Tras la Perla has led several periodic city, regional, and environmental planning exercises to identify needs and then connect future beneficiaries with the necessary resources. Tras la Perla currently manages programs in three areas: 1) urban infrastructure development, 2) strengthening community and leadership skills, and 3) environmental sustainability.
