Horrible, feo, descuidado, NO VALE LA PENA. Que desperdicio de tiempo y dinero!!!! Don't even bother... the place is never maintained and there's nothing worth seeing!!! What a waste of time and money!!!

I attempted to visit the place on December 31, 2018. However the place was closed at 1 pm. In 2019, Bolivar the series made a profound impact on me as a person and I found a new resolve to visit the Quinta to pay my respects to this hero. No human is perfect and Simon Bolivar the hero he is, is no different. However, liberating Venezuela, Grand Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia remains his greatest achievement and there can be no history of Latin America without mentioning this great man. The death place, to me is a sanctuary, to pay homage. Excellent maintenance, beautiful architecture, memorials well maintained, life size statues of Bolivar, adorn this beautiful place. I did not take the help of guides as I was well aware of the history of the place, however guides are definitely recommended if you want to know more. A must see place in Santa Marta if you want to learn the history of Colombian and Latin American freedom struggle.

The museum is great and our guide was very informative. The grounds have been left to decay quite a bit, not sure if it's because of covid-19 or poor management.

Worth to spend a few hours There is a local bus from Plaza de los Novios to that place for around 1.400 pesos. It's way cheaper than a regular taxi and it's just a 15 min ride. The entrance fee for foreigners is 20.000 pesos. The first impression was not overwhelming. The garden and flowers weren't well maintained and it didn't seem they would care about the botanical garden. However u can see some iguanas and different bird species. The museum is interesting and most of the explanations are in Spanish & English and well written. The other buildings and grounds are interesting as well but lack in explanations sometimes.

My favorite part of this place was our "tour guide". The museum has senior year students doing community hours as tours and through their stories you go back in history to the time of Bolivar. This museum has a special magic, and it's covered by natured, 400 years old trees. The entrance for nonresidents it's like 12 but it's worth coming and visiting. Even for the 'gram is a good stop. There's the main "house" museum and a contemporary section built years after to showcase the work of emerging artists. Parking is free and there's a gift/coffee shop to get drinks, snacks and souvenirs.

This might have been because of the pandemic or they close certain parts earlier, but the Modern Art Museum was closed when we went. Also they have not maintained the paths in the 'Botanical garden' section, so what you see as paths on the map are not all accessible. A nice thing: most of the information was posted in Spanish and English.

Very nice, went to see Simon Bolivars final place. Very well organized. Very informative. Very quiet place. Houses, gardens etc.
