Interesting museum, not much excitement there. But definitely something to see. The architecture was the most interesting part for me.
The architecture of this place is amazing. The terrace on the fifth floor is great for reading. The exposition itself is nice but the place seems under-utilised. Recommended!
12k entry. They accept card. Place is small but has some interesting exhibits. Modern art isn't really my thing but English information helped make it easier to follow. Garden terrace and lookout over Medellín is great as is the small park outside. Recommend for an hour or so!
Google asked me write a review so here it is. This may have been the most exciting place I've ever visited in my life. The birth of my first born son, Björn, was not nearly as exciting as my first trip to the Medellín Modern Art Museum. As soon as I saw the stunning edges of that concrete building, I threw my child into the gutter. The magnificence of those concrete slabs simply cannot be comprehended. The rest of my life after this point will no doubt be a disappointment. My life has peaked
Save Your Time & Money: SKIP As much as it pains me to say, this museum is not worth the cost or time it takes to visit. To call it mediocre is to do it a favor, and I wanted to like it so much before visiting. I’m a so-so fan of Modern Art, but I still like to see different museums on my travels around the world. I’ve had really incredible experiences at the Tate Modern, SFMOMA & Centre Pompidou in Paris, and never expected this museum to come even close to those world-class institutions. Still, I wasn’t prepared for things to be as abysmal as they were. The somewhat interestingly styled five-story building is more chaotic than tasteful in its design, and only one of those five floors is dedicated to the exhibition of art. The staff are overly hawkish to the point of being harassing and make for an uncomfortable experience. It took only one hour to visit, and I wish I wasn’t fooled by the shiny veneer of this glossy but hollow “museum.” SKIP and enjoy the energetic and robust exhibitions at Museo de Antioquia.
The main collection on floor 4 houses many beautiful and provoking pieces by native Colombian artists. Mainly mixed media, print, painting makes up the collection.
Great museum of modern art. Love the collection and from a westeners' point of view it is really refreshing.
