Isla Roots was a little slice of paradise and relaxation. The very first day my partner and I arrived we were welcomed with open arms and really felt part of a family. The beach area was so relaxing and wonderful. Mario, Orlando, and Fernando were very nice and made us feel part of the Isla roots family. Shout outs to the cooks (the food was on point!) perfect place to party or relax. We did both! Thanks again to Isla roots! Mi Amigo!!! Johnny

Beautiful! Mario is the boss.
Isla roots is the perfect slice of paradise! There is a nice amount of space to roam around and not feel trapped. Loads of activities to choose from and the food was consistently good. Would definitely stay again!
Had a amazing time at that small Island. It's like a little paradise. You don't have Wifi so you have to connect with the other guests in the Hostel. It's still a Hostel and it has nothing luxury except the beauty of the Island. If you wanna relax and enjoy just to lay in a hammock that is the right place to be. The food is delicious, you have everyday the option between chicken , fish , veggie or lobster or other sea food. Electricity is not alwAys available in the dorms but in the lobby and at the bar. The showers working just at night. Don't worry, you häng out the whole day in the hammocks or in the water due of that a shower at night is enough. We had a lot of fun and we don't wanted to go. I want to come back as soon as possible.
Simply one of the most amazing and relax hostel ever been to, crazy vibe on a small island. Plankton tour highly recommended, snorkeling tour not that much since there was not much to see. Would recommend taking a hammock if you are just staying for 1 night.
My wife and I stayed at Isla Roots for 3 nights, and loved it. The property is lovely, especially the swimming area in the back with swings and hammocks in the water and a great view of the sunset. Food was all great and super fresh (splurge and treat yourself one night to one of the giant fresh crabs or lobsters they have!) We stayed in a private room that had A/C (and was plenty comfy and cool), and there are also dorms and hammocks. They offer a ton of activities as well. We visited the two nearby islands (we preferred Tintipan slightly to Mucura), visited Santa Cruz de Islote, and did the Bioluminescent Plankton night tour. There's also wakeboarding, snorkeling, kayaks, paddleboarding and subwinging (which looks like a lot of fun). It was great for us as a couple, and it would also be great for a group of friends. Highly recommended!
Fun concept to disconnect from social media and spend a few days doing nothing but chilling. Highly recommend the plankton snorkelling tour during the night. No internet (wifi) available during our stay. Be sure to book transportation well in advance as transfer-boats get packed and you may end up stuck in the island. Though a hostel, when adding the cost of 2 meals a day (around 25k per meal), drinks and boat transfers you end up spending some money (in case you're travelling on a tight budget)
AVOID!! They SCAMMED our bill by overcharging by nearly 100 usd. The BEDSHEETS WERE FULL OF BLOOD. Conditions are horrendous compared to any hostel. The bartenders make you feel guilty if you order a frozen drink. I can’t think of reason to ever stay here. There are a lot of good hostels in the islands to choose from.
