The company was born as “Acatayma Orchids” during the World Oil Crisis of the early 70’s, when European growers searched for alternatives against the skyrocketing heating costs. Following the WOC-1972 in Medellin, Vacherot & Lecoufle, Paris offered us a partnership and provided their lab’s plant material to be grown commercially in the so called “Fog Forest Fringe” high on the Andes Mountains, a microclimate that allowed, for the first time ever, the production of first quality Cymbidiums all year round. During the mid 1980´s, Vacherot & Lecoufle sold their interest to their partners and the Company eventually changed names to “Floralgems”, and continues to produce top quality Cymbidiums year round. As a family enterprise, with over 70 years experience in all kind of flower and plant growing, we have made it a commitment to offer the best quality and service to our valued customers.
