Eduardo and Kevin are clearly well-knowledgable, experienced and safe guides. On dry land, we had a thorough 10-15 minute talk about safety and practicing different manoeuvres, practicing these techniques again in the water before setting off. The Rio Suarez runs through a [another] beautiful stretch of Colombia and, in the quieter moments, I had time to appreciate the trees cascading down the hills to kiss the river with their vibrant green leaves. A gentle section of the river gave us a moment to relax with a little river swimming before the second Level V section of rapids. Our group ran into difficulty here as the boat capsized at the start of the section, trapping some members of the group under the raft as we bounced through the rapids. It is testament to Eduardo and Kevin's abilities as guides as to how they handled the situation, both keeping their cool and acting quickly to rescue us and get us back on the overturned raft. The beers at the end of the ride most definitely felt celebratory! Do not let our experience put you off - forewarned is forearmed - and, as Eduardo explained, every day on the river is a different day: with differing levels of the river, different weights and people on the raft with different strengths and abilities. However, I definitely would not recommend this trip for children, those who are not feeling in full health or those with an pre-existing injuries. But, if you are an experienced swimmer and looking for an adventure, I would most definitely recommend booking your trip with Exploradores Colombia! See you guys in Futaleufu ;-)
Absolutely amazing and safe rafting on Suarez River! Pure adrenaline and at the end you'll drink a well deserved beer in the middle of the jungle!
