We booked this place on Airbnb. We had an amazing experience in ArtVelez and Fernando and Maria were amazing hosts. They always suggested good plans to do in Salento, they were really cool. They hostal is only 2 blocks away from the main square, besides the location is perfect due is surround it by nature so we don’t hear cars or any other noises. It’s really quite. The rooms are big, there is hot water and the bathroom spacious. Enjoy your stay in ArtVelez.

I can’t recommend Fernando and his place enough. Such a great person, very knowledgeable and will do everything to make you feel like home. Lovely, cozy hostel and interesting tour to violent ruins that Fernando took us on.

My only regret was not staying longer. I just cannot say enough about Fernando & Paula. The home was located next to a beautiful green belt and yet only 2-3 blocks away from the main town square. Such a wonderful location. YOU MUST TRY CHEF FERNANDO VELEZ’s COOKING CLASS. It was hands-down my favorite experience in Colombia. Chef Velez has a professional kitchen in the hostel and offers a 3-4 hour cooking experience. We picked numerous fruits and vegetables from his backyard garden... he was so passionate about the history of food & told beautiful stories while sharing culinary techniques. It was very hands-on, interesting, intimate, and just a beautiful experience. There was so much value, I cannot recommend this enough!! (Not to mention the beer and wine paired with a 3-4 course meal; the price was SO cheap) I travel often. This will be one of those memories that lasts a lifetime. DO IT.

Awesome place to pass the night at a real good price. The owner Fernando will give you some awesome classes of kitchen making some typical Colombian dishes. The rooms and beds are cool with a private bathroom for the people of each room.

Our Private Room COCORA located on the ground floor with the view of balcony/ staircase, and because we always had the window closed, we could feel the dampness in the room; especially having no fan or air-conditioning inside the room, also, during day time or night time, it didn't feel warm at all. The thing I disliked about the room was that the bathroom floor often flooded with water from the shower, and without floor mat, the room's floor often wet and slippery. P/S: They didn't have breakfast services, but they have a cooking lessons!

Hospitality with capital H. Fernando is the best host you can imagine. He does everything to make you feel comfortable and helps you make the most out of your visit to the lovely town and neighourhood of Salento. He can pick you up from the airport, help find great tours, be your local guide on the palm tree tour or you participate on his cooking class. The appartments are clean and the hotel is well located just outside the centre of the village.
