This is one of the more popular spots of Zipaquirá that is just about an hour from Bogota. The place is very easily accessible from the main square, if you follow the directions on the map. The place has seen a lot of tourist friendly transformation over the years from guided tours to recorded guided tours. Ofcourse the tour is available in English as well. The mine is no longer functional however the place captures a lot of history of the salt miners of Zipaquirá. Before colonial times, the salt from this mine also functioned as a trade object between the muisca communities. Souvenirs are pricier and ofcourse that is expected out of a popular tourist spot. The lights show and the short film are not to be missed.

This place blew my mind, I dont understand why this mines are not so popular, it would be full of Europeans and Americans, it is really unbelievable. No wonder they call it the 8th wonder of the world, I had an awesome time with my family, very clean and organized , and stopping to watch the 3d movie was so nice, highly recommended

Beautiful place that you should visit taking good time. Cold weather needs jackets. If you want to walk, you should have good health.

There is bus that goes there from portal del norte, it's 3 mil pesos (1usd) 20 minutes walk to get there, the entrance fee was 30 mil pesos (10 usd) it takes an hour to visit the place, it becomes a religious place but it's interesting somehow.

This is by far the most important place to visit in Bogota Colombia. I highly recommend to get a massage in the salt Cave. That will be an unforgettable experience. There is so much to see that you will need 5-6 hours once you get there. Although they say it takes 2-3 to see it all I do not agree. Put on your camaras on 4D mode because you will see spectacular foto opportunities. Also bring regular headsets to use with the radio guide. They dont provide it with the tour. The whole town of Zipaquirá is worth walking. Food great in most places.
