We contacted Jose Luis for assistance in birding the Serranía de Perijá hoping to make a more budget-friendly excursion and he was a great help. He organized our 4x4 truck transport up to the area from the bus station in Valledupar as well as arranged for us a cheap (very basic) place to stay downhill from the more expensive ProAves Reserve lodging (as we would have been the only 2-3 guests). This all worked out well and even better as Jose Luis was able to arrange for our initial driver to stay with us and drive for our time there after our "on the mountain" driver canceled without notice. I thought this was all rather seamlessly performed and would recommend Jose Luis if seeking nature/birding in the Valledupar area.
