My experience with Expotur for the 4D Ciudad Perdida trek was nothing short of spectacular. The professionalism and eagerness with which their team answered my questions and helped prepare me for the trek was unrivaled. The trek itself was amazing and the guides they provided (Comacho & Gustavo) were fantastic. As a native English speaker, Gustavo was perfect for us and provided excellent insight, help, and humor through the entire trip. This is a challenging and beautiful trek, one I encourage any healthy person with a love for nature and culture to undertake. The ruins themselves were much better than I imagined and the native presence there (the Kogi) was truly unbelievable and unexpected (they live everywhere throughout the trekking region). This is a must do if you are in the area and I highly recommend Expotur.
We had a great time with our guide Antonio and our translator Andrés. It was a perfect trip for us and we enjoyed every minute of it. The 4 day Lost City track was round about 56km and a total ascend of 2863m. The logistic during the whole track was more than efficient and very impressive! We brought more water per day (5Liter) than we needed. The snack stops between the camps provide everything you need, so you don’t need to worry about that. The food was very delicious. The beds in the camps are clean and comfy. We were also extremely grateful that our guides had such a good connection to the indigenous people there. We were able to learn a lot about their way of life - a story they were happy to tell us, which made the trip really special. We would definitely recommend this trip to anyone looking for some adventure and an authentic experience of this very special place.
We did this trek beginning February and it was the first time we do a trek for us. Everything went so smoothly, it couldn't be more perfect. Our guide Gabriel explained everything to us and made us feel safe while visiting the jungle. He was nice and friendly and professional at the same time. Our translator Ailyn as well did a fantastic job and we are grateful to both of them for making us have a wonderful time. If you have any hesitation to do the Ciudad Perdida trek or to choose Expotur, don't hesitate it is so worth it !!!! Thank you Expotur and thank you Gabriel and Ailyn !!
This is best tour company for ciudad perdida as ratings show. There is always an English translator that other companies do not always have. I took off a star because the company should know not to make new paths. Hopefully a road never arrives to ciudad perdida as that would be the ultimate destruction of the environment but the trail erosion is horrendous. Pictures show going off the trail. The mud is in the DRY season 3 days after 1 hour of rain. Bring trail running shoes as a minimum. My group was slipping everywhere in tennis shoes. The office folks should advise better on foot wear. Look up packing list online.
We had a splendid time with Expotur hiking and backpacking the lost city. We had Ciser as our guide who was fantastic. He spoke English quite fluently which was important for me as I barely speak Spanish. He also had great knowledge about the history of the lost city which was crucial for the trip to get a wholesome lost city experience. The customer service of Expotur was amazing and they took extremely good care of during the entire trip. Poncho was our other guide who herded us through the whole trip. Some main pointers to wrap up my review: a. Amazing hospitality by all members of hospitality b. Spectacular food at every campsite c. Thoughtfulness of the company in taking care of us for snacks, food and lodging d. You get to hang out and meet people from all over the world which is amazing I highly recommend the lost city trek and also Expotur for the trip!
