I attended two weeks of classes at the Envigado campus and thoroughly enjoyed them. The staff and teachers are super friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is casual. Everyone is very supportive and wants to help all the students improve. Before arriving at the school I had been a bit worried about being a "mature" student among young backpackers, but I shouldn't have been worried, as students are from many countries and of different ages. The communication from the school before my arrival was excellent and this continued during my stay. I chose to do the group classes, which never have more than 6 students and ours was a class of just two. We progressed really well and talked, listened and laughed a lot - all in Spanish! Monica is an excellent teacher as well as a great ambassador for the young people of Medellin and Colombia. The school also offers one-on-one coaching sessions in the afternoons, as well as weekly excursions. The coaching is a very personalized session just to help you practice whatever is necessary to improve your fluency and comprehension. The excursions are organized through Felipe and use local guides, who are very knowledgeable and willing to answer all sorts of questions about Colombia. Great activities which should not be missed. I was very happy with my decision to improve my Spanish at Colombia Immersion and have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the school to other students.

My husband and I spent 6 weeks here studying, we really enjoyed ourselves. We've been to one other Spanish school before and this place is way way way better. Everyone is really warm and friendly. You can tell the teachers care and want you to learn. We had the teachers Sandra, Salwa, Sergio, and Nando. They were all awesome. I really enjoyed the laid back environment that's not as stuffy as the traditional classroom where the teacher is just talking at you, writing stuff on the whiteboard, and you are taking notes. There is a lot of talking and practicing what you are learning and the teachers will help you with work on your weaknesses. We hope to come back here and learn more.

I came to Colombia intending to finally nail down my spanish after years of floundering between dysfunctional and intermediate spanish. I spent 4 weeks in the full immersion program at Colombia Immersion and I could not have been more pleased. The curriculum is rock solid and well paced, the teachers are all incredible, extremely friendly, and having now spent more time at other immersion schools elsewhere, I truly believe the teachers to be world class. One aspect I was not expecting was the strong community the school fosters. I expected to be on my own in Colombia but I really felt like I was part of a family. There are so many opportunities to become close with the staff and other students (an extremely diverse array of students I might add, from all over the world and all age groups, pre-college to long-retired) that I never felt lonely or out of place. I came to love Envigado, by far my favorite part of Medellin (if you don’t believe me then spend a few hours at the Cabana de Recuerdos on a Sunday night). I was also thoroughly impressed by the cultural outings and field trips arranged by the school, all thanks to the fantastic cultural coordinator Felipe, who does an incredible job finding unique experiences to take the students out to do. Medellin is rife with lame touristy experiences, but not one of the daily cultural experiences felt like this, and many of the places you are taken to to experience are places you’d otherwise have no way of exploring as a tourist. If you really take advantage of all of the opportunities Colombia Immersion has to offer, you will find yourself surrounded by friends, your schedule packed with interesting activities, and your spanish wildly improved. Like all language programs, you get what you put in to it, but Colombia Immersion makes it easy to put in a lot and get out a lot. Cannot recommend more highly.

I have spent 10 weeks in the school in laureles and 5 weeks in the envigado school over the last year and a half. Both schools are very good and the experience is similar. You truly can't go wrong with either school. I would say the envigado area is a bit quieter and a bit more residential. In 15 weeks total (and 1 year in between week 10 and 11 without speaking any spanish) I was able to have conversations with spanish speakers. I can watch movies with subtitles and read slowly in spanish as well (I still need to reference certain words and phrases). Overall, I would say in 15 weeks total that is amazing and is as fast as I could imagine myself learning spanish. For all but the final 4 weeks the classes are 4 hours a day with small class sizes. At most I had 5 other students in the class and some weeks it was 1 on 1. The average I would say is 3 students per class which is ideal. The teachers are all very good, professional and make learning fun in my experience. The school environment is warm and inviting. The people at the school are very helpful and there are lots of good activities to do. The intercambios (language exchanges) are fun events and give a chance to learn while relaxing and having drinks. After people usually go out as well. The school community is close so on weekends students and some staff occasionally will go on amazing hikes through mountains and jungles to find waterfalls and farms. Places only a local might be able to find. Overall I would give this school 5 stars and plan to return once again. Medellin is an amazing, fun and safe city. The school has good lodging options as well. However, Airbnb is also a good option to look at. I have made colombian friends and friends from all over the world. My time in the program will be something I always remember. I couldn't imagine a better, more efficient and fun way to learn spanish effectively.

Taking classes at Colombia Immersion was a fantastic experience! Not only are they a great school for learning Spanish, but since their goal is to immerse you in Colombian and paisa culture, you end up learning SO much about this beautiful city and country. The staff is incredibly welcoming, the teachers are knowledgeable and passionate, and the other students were loads of fun to spend time with. I stayed at the Envigado school, which is a very nice part of Medellin that is a relaxed part of the city where I felt right at home. I'd highly recommend to anyone considering to take classes here to do so.

En Español abajo My time with Colombia immersion was unforgettable. I started as a student, and left as family. The group classes are small (2-6 students) which allows each teacher to focus on the needs of each individual student while maintaining a social environment in the classroom. The teachers switch every week, which allows the students to experience a variety of teaching styles. Outside of the classroom I continued to learn about Colombian culture through the activities, as well as the history of Medellín through the field trips. Cooking Colombian food and experiencing the various neighbourhoods of Medellin (particularly comuna 8) are some of my highlights of 3 months in Colombia.

I learned a lot during my 20 hours for one week, and I really loved the place. Everyone are very friendly and down to earth. I was in a class of five students with Juan as a teacher, and there was always time to address all questions. There's a class for every level so the teaching fits your skills. There's a bunch of social activities every week, and an intercambio every Friday where a lot of locals show up to practice their English. I can definitely recommend.

I started a year long trip by taking 1 month of Spanish classes at Colombian Immersion School, and I am so happy I did. I came in knowing very little, and within a month a left having a great base of Spanish that I could then take and build on as I continue to travel. The teachers at the school are amazing! I also loved the small classes because it was very interactive and involved a lot of speaking in Spanish, which was huge for me to get over the hurtle of being scared to speak. All and all I highly recommend this school because the teachers, the classes and the people involved are all amazing!
