Playa blanca is 1 hour away from Bocagrande by car, it is indeed a beautiful place with Crystal clear water and white sand beaches, even though the Sandy part of the beach was greatly eroded by the last big storm that the area endured. The service provided by the attendants could not be better, they are very concerned about the guests and their enjoyment of the place. The one thing that takes away from the enjoyment is the almost constant stream of vendors and massage ladies who are obviously trying to make a living. As to the reviewers that complained about this being hard to access and sort of "primitive", perhaps an all inclusive resort is what they need. I think that the fact that it is out the way adds to the charm and overall experience.

The service at Playa Surf was excellent, especially Katia’s! She greeted us with a hug and treated us like family. She made sure that we had a great experience, good food, and drinks when we needed them. The only drawback for me was the constant peddling. People were trying to sell everything from fruit salad to massages and bracelets. Not the most relaxing beach experience, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Beach is beautiful just watch out for the guys that offer to help and get you drinks they end over charging for there "service". Make sure you pay up front and bring plenty of small Bill's. DONT PAY WITH CREDIT CARD. They'll rack on a 20% transaction fee.

Gorgeous beach, great service, cold beer. A spectacular experience. I highly recommend you visit if you are taking a trip to Cartagena.

We had good service at Playa Surf, but overall I do not recommend a trip to Playa Blanca at all. It is not worth it. The beach is OK, but the place is very primitive. Access from the parking area to the beach is not easy as you have to walk on an incline with rocks that could be very dangerous for many. Playa Surf is a place where you can rent chairs and umbrellas. They sell drinks (not a big list) and something to eat. They also have restrooms, without running water. The attendants are very nice. Playa Blanca is a good hour and a half drive from Cartagena. You can also go by boat, but first boats are hard to get in an out of and second, the trip back may not be possible due to sea's conditions.
